One Year Post Heat Damage Growth

This post is coming so late! November made a year since my heat damage and when I started my transition to my coiled tresses. I am really proud of my progress and I have relearned my hair (and still learning). I did a length check video and I was surprised to see the growth!

The ABC's of Curly Hair

NaturallyCurly developed another great way of helping curlies take care of their hair. I just LOVE this one. It  reminds me of the ABC's of CPR (I am a Registered Nurse, lol).  No matter how long I have been natural I always need a reminder of what my strands need. Check it out below!!!

Review: Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Hair Mask

I bought Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Hair Mask during one of her weekly sales a few months ago and I was really excited to use it due to all the rave reviews. The product claims to be a nutritious conditioning treatment that softens, detangles, and moisturizes. It says it works best for thick kinks, curls or waves, relaxed, color treated or dry hair. The ingredients are all natural which is also a plus.
Source
I used this product after doing my henna treatment due to the drying effect henna creates. I applied a generous amount of conditioner to my hair and I covered it with a  plastic cap. I did an over night deep conditioning treatment even though the instructions said to keep it in for 20 minutes. When I first tried this product a few months, I wasn't impressed. A lot of people raved about it and I was expecting great results. This time around I was crossing my fingers it would work better. The next morning I was expecting a lot of slip to be able to detangle my hair but that didn't happen. BUT after I rinsed my hair, my hair felt luscious! Hence the name. My hair was soft, fluffy and it felt moisturized.

Verdict: B- The main fact that I couldn't detangle my hair upon application or after more than 8 hours of the conditioner in my hair is the reason I am not totally in love with this product. But having really soft and fluffy hair is something that would make me continue using this product.

What are your thoughts on this product?

ANOTHER Natural Hair Monthly Subscription Service?!

Okay, just a few minutes ago I saw a post on someones page for yet ANOTHER monthly subscription service that offers natural hair products.
This company is called TryMyFab.com. It seems very similar to the other subscriptions out there, by providing 4-5 products each month in what they call FabPacks. I just hope they come out with something that makes them stand out from the other subscriptions services
And in no way am I trying to shoot down an entrepreneurs dream of starting a company but when does too much become too much!? For me it feels like overload because even though there seems to be a lot of products out there, there are going to be a lot of repeats in these boxes.
Of course the product junkie in me decided to check out the website and I also signed up to find out when they will start selling subscriptions.

Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit

As a newbie to makeup, lashes are uncharted ground for me. Besides the main fact that my natural eyelashes are extremely long and curly, I never had any real interest in wearing fake lashes. Once I carefully apply mascara I can get long lengths with my eye lashes and simulate fake lashes.
The Kiss Ever Pro lash kit comes with a set of lashes, a tweezers to assist in placement and eye lash glue. There is also a step by step guide on the back of the package. This kit is great for beginners, like me, even though my first experience with these lashes were not easy!
Being that my eye lashes are long and curly, it was hard for me to just "place" the lashes on my eye lid because my lashes continued to get into my way. I had to cut the eye lashes so they fit nicely and blend in with my natural lashes. I added a good amount of glue to the lash and allowed it to dry till its tacky and slightly clear. Let's just say it took about 5 tries till I actually got it on my lid and for it to stick. The tweezers did help with application. One good thing about these lashes is that they are allowed to be reused and they are made with human hair.

I love the effect the fake lashes gives your look, so I will continue to practice and trying to apply lashes. You can check out the whole line of lashes at www.everezlashes.com.You can purchase this kit at Walgreens for $4.99.

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact

I am still such an amateur when it comes down to makeup application so I was really excited when I received this custom compact from the Influenster Beauty Blogger box. I was skeptical at first because I wasn't sure of the quality of the eye shadows and the shadows seemed very shimmery. Surprisingly the colors are so pigmented, not as shimmery as I thought and there was no fallout from the eye shadows. I loved the fact the eye shadow compact came with a primer (helps to prevent creasing and fading), illuminator, applicator and complementing shadows. Also it had instructions on where to place each shadow. Although one of my shadows cracked and spilled during transit I was still able to make it work.
So as you can see below I applied the shadows as instructed but of course I needed to blend just a little bit more, ugh amateur mistake, lol. But I am still very proud of myself!

You can purchase NYC custom compacts at many drug stores, including online at www.newyorkcolor.com, for $4.99.

10 Curl Commandments

I thought this was soooo cute!!
**Random** The title actually reminded me of Biggie's "Ten Crack Commandments", but that is neither here nor there, lol.
NaturallyCurly.com put together these are simple tips and I think they are vital for maintaining length and healthy hair. I think this is also great for transitioners or those that recently did the big chop!

Review: Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream

I received the Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Defining Hair Cream from Influenster in the Beauty Blogger VoxBox.
This is not an all natural product and it does contain silicone in it. I am not against using a product that isn't all natural, once it gives me great results.
I used this cream on clean hair. It is a light cream and smooths easily into the hair. It claims to define naturally curly, or wavy hair. I applied my leave in and then applied about a nickle sized amount onto each section. I two strand twisted my hair and I allowed my hair to dry over night. In the morning I used an oil spray on my hair for shine and to prevent frizz. As I unraveled my hair I realized my hair was really defined in some sections but other sections were very frizzy. My hair was soft and manageable though. To maintain the twist out, I retwisted my hair in larger sections each night. I did feel like I had to add more of the product to my hair because my hair felt dryer and dryer as the week progressed.
Verdict: DI did not like this product. The main fact that my hair was frizzy and dry by day three was very annoying and upsetting to say the least. I will not purchase this product again.
